My interventions with pre-existing architecture arise from my critical dialogue with self, other, and whole. Insofar as architecture creates an exoskeletal social structure, it becomes an extension of the self, orienting one’s surroundings. As I occupy my body, so too I occupy my direct circumstances. By exposing
the internal framework I can further understand how architecture signifies place in time, self in society. Employing the material discovered in the space, I aim to level any sense of ideological hierarchy and demonstrate how construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction can be synonymous in notions of creation
 and/or progress. In these conflations of material and thought, I encounter that which another human made, generating an incessant inquiry: what did I build and what was built for me? By dissecting the fabricated environment – tangible and cognitive – I investigate manifestations burrowed in my material present
geographic, social, and anthropological, each with a psycho- logical emphasis. This assemblage is a convergence between what has been ascribed to me and what I deem fit for disman- tling… perhaps never resolved, nor ruined, but merely rearranged. Once I’ve ripped open the internal/external forms, I can sift
through conflicting distinctions — between public and private, dualism and monism, civilized and wild — to realize a more identifiable scheme. Through such foraging I attempt to understand my ever-enveloped bearings, and assume my finitude and faculty. With each raw and uncharted interaction I am amending
that which is predetermined, presenting the temporal and inserting the peculiar. I interject a paradox unknown into a space known – as in the natural brain and the uncanny mind. This fragmented process of taxonomy, often ghostly and volatile, invokes the capacity for determination. Seemingly unfettered, I compose an autonomous condition – here, familiar meets foreign, innate meets alien. Disorientation is the discerning guide, though also the steady, lurking potential for exquisite annihilation.
