Pratt Student Internships
CSDS Interns lead cultural, institutional and community change for a ‘greener’ Pratt. The interns staff the Research and Resource Center and act as both researchers and sustainability consultants to CSDS visitors. The internship experience develops leadership skills, promotes teamwork, and allows students from different departments and backgrounds to collaborate with one another. By working together to educate themselves on sustainability, they complete extensive research and reports to enhance CSDS’ ever-expanding material and case study libraries. Additionally, the interns have been involved in design research projects such as the Paper Cup Recycling program and the Tumi LCA project, Green Week Activities, New Student Orientation Activities, and updating the CSDS Website. Our interns come from various departments at Pratt, including Graduate and Undergraduate Industrial Design, Graduate and Undergraduate Communications Design, Graduate printmaking, Undergraduate Film, Undergraduate Fashion, Graduate Architecture and Graduate Environmental Management Systems.
The Center for Sustainable Design Studies is always looking for motivated individuals interested in joining our team. Check the Pratt Student Employment link or email email@example.com for available openings.
High School Summer Internships
Triskeles offers summer and year-round programs for students in kindergarten through high school. CSDS participates as one of the summer internship sites for the Sustainable Directions Internships program (ages 15-17). Triskeles’ New York City Sustainable Directions Internship offers youth training opportunities in a broad variety of innovative organizations that are committed to sustainability and social entrepreneurship. Triskeles works with students to determine areas of interest, location and availability and match them with exciting opportunities. Training in life skills, employment skills and entrepreneurship is an essential element of the program; interns attend a 3-day pre-internship orientation and weekly seminars, and they receive a stipend to cover their expenses and a metro-card to cover transportation. CSDS has been an internship site for 3 years, and has had hosted 5 students to work alongside our Pratt interns. For more information click here.
